Alcohol Ink Cards

I took a class at Crop-A-While about a week ago.  It was on alcohol ink cards.  The teacher was Heather Telford.  She showed us different techniques which we then practiced on different types of paper. We were then supposed to make cards from these practice panels.  I only made one card at the class and that was from my friend's panel (she didn't like it but I did).  So I brought them home and did them up there. These are the results.

All Alcohol Inks are made by Ranger.

This first one was actually done before the class.  The ink is dotted on to the felt blending tool and pounced all over glossy photo paper.  The butterfly diecut (by Taylored Expressions) is placed over top and then trimmed to fit. (you've seen this one before in a previous post).

This next one was done with the panel my friend did.  The ink is dotted on the felt blending tool then swiped across the paper. Then you place a stencil over top and remove the ink with rubbing alcohol or alcohol based blending solution. The butterfly diecut is Penny Black (I think) and the diecut word is Little B.

This was done with the same technique as above except I didn't use a stencil. I did add some of the silver metallic fixative on the bottom part to simulate waves.  Again, I added the diecut and trimmed to fit.

Die: Penny Black
Patterned Paper: K&Company
Sentiment Stamp: Kaisercraft
Embossing Powder: Recollections

Three colours of alcohol ink were dotted onto a splat mat along with some blending solution.  You then take the paper and "swipe" up the colour until all the paper is covered.  I then used a leaf diecut and put the panel on solid cardstock.  I also have the diecut leaf to use on another card.

Cardstock: Recollections
Patterned Paper: can't remember - it was a scrap I had leftover
Die: Sizzix
Twine: We R Memory Keepers
Tag punch and "friends" stamp: Stampin Up

On this one, felt was diecut into the shape of a butterfly, temporarily adhered to a wooden block, dotted with three colours and used as a stamp.

Ribbon: Pebbles Inc.
Twine: We R Memory Keepers
Die words: Little B
Card Base: DCWV

On this last one, yupo paper was used.  It is like the plastic used in our bill currency.  It allows the ink to not dry as quickly and therefor it runs or blooms easier. I used this panel behind a diecut.

Card Base: DCWV
Diecut: MME
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey - Grand Bazaar (6x6 pad)
Sequins: ArtMind

Beading Chic

There was a sheet of paper in my stash that had all these illustrations on it: Beading Chic, Knitting Chic, Sewing Chic, Cropping Chic, etc.  I don't know where it came from or who made it.  I cut it all apart and will make cards from each of them.  This is the first one.

Butterfly Die

I used this Penny Black die three different ways.
  1. For this one I used Tim Holtz distress ink and did a sponged mix of pastel colours on a white background. I cut the butterfly die twice, using gold and white glitter paper. I used the gold for the outline and filled it in with the white.
  2. I used Ranger alcohol inks to make the background and then placed the black diecut on top.
  3. This one was cut out four times - black solid, white glitter, gold glitter and silver glitter, then piece back together.
